Why do we sing? Wherever we are in good spirits, we sing. David and his people sang with all their strength. They sang with lute and harp, strings and pipe, cymbals, and trumpet.
In Mass, we sing. Choir leads and moves our worshipping spirits together to praise God. Music and songs express the sacramental presence of God in the assembly. They open our hearts with genuine prayers, thanksgivings and praises to God to the fullness and multiplied. At the same time, it is a way for God to lead us to the realm of higher things. It is a sign of God’s love for us and of our love for him. |
