The role of a Eucharistic Minister is not just what he/she does, but who he/she is - child of God. To ensure that administrator Holy Eucharist reverently and efficiently, Eucharistic ministers are asked to attend class on the diocesan level. The class helps the ministers to learn and understand the theology and the doctrine. The class is only the minimum requirement before one is considered eligible to server the community.
The responsibility of Eucharistic Ministers are not only serving in the Mass. They also deliver the Eucharist to the parishioners who is in sick, and bring Viaticum to the dangerously ill, to assist in exposing, and to repose the Blessed Sacrament for veneration should that assistance be required.
