The ACM Building Committee has been formed and has been meeting since 2022. The ACM BC worked with the Archdiocese to vet, interview, meet, and hire the Architect Company, Merriman Hold Powell Architects. The Architects have completed the final design of the New Learning and Activity Center.
The Design
The current Activity Center's existing skeletal structure will remain, while the building will be renovated inside and out. The current garden/backyard will be converted into a semi-enclosed playground between the new Activity Center and the new education center. The new education center will be built on the field between the church building and the garden.
The Cost
The total cost of the project is $7.7 million, to include the cost of design, renovation of the old activity center, construction of the new building, retention pond, covered walkway, cost of furnishing, fixtures and lighting, as well as the contractor fees, architect fees, and all the standard fees.
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has an account of $2.5 million in savings for Ascension, and has officially approved our project and granted us a Line of Credit of $3.0 million. The recent Goodwill survey of our parishioners resulted in a total of $1.5 million in potential pledges. Considering all the values mentioned, Ascension's financial standing is a total of $7 million in payment power, which leaves an outstanding balance of $0.7 million.

The Construction Schedule
The Building Committee has selected the contractor company and the plan is moving forward. Construction of the New Activity Center and Parish Life Center will take approximately 11 months to complete: Mid Feb. 2025 - Construction Begins Mid Dec. 2025 - Construction Ends Mid Dec. 2025 - Move-In Begins Feb. 2026 - Move-In Complete
