what and Why do we read?
“Lector” or “Reader” proclaims the first and second readings from the ambo at Mass. In preparation, they break open the Word, deepen and enlighten their minds with insights so the Word of God dwells in them. With their love for God in the Scriptures, the lector proclaims the Word of God for the Assembly. In the absence of a Deacon, the reader announces the intentions of the Universal Prayer from the ambo.
